Email Marketing is one of the easiest ways to grow your business using the Internet. No, not spam marketing, but rather targeted emails to qualified customers and prospects. Personally, I have used this method with great success to grow my company and other companies along the way.

The idea is to offer goods, or services to specific customers by email. In this sense, it is not unlike traditional direct marketing – the difference is that you find your lists of prospects through a web search, database, or internet marketing inbound subscription campaign. For instance, say that you are an architectural drafter. You could email architects across the country, explaining who you are, your value and why they should care.

The challenge is that the one thing that really can help you make, or close a sale – rapport – is more difficult to create online that it is offline. In the non-virtual world, you create trust and rapport the old-fashioned way: you meet people, look them in the eye, find something in common, and so on. But online, you cannot do that. So what do you do, when you are essentially cold calling someone with your unsolicited marketing email? Here is what works:

  • Use Names: Email the person by name
  • Write a Super Subject Line: Summarize the content of the message, or cause curiosity.
  • Keep it short
  • Be impressive with your email and with landing pages, or sites that your email is linked to.
  • Give a reason to respond
  • Offer a guarantee

Email Marketing works!
